Phase II: Refining Targets and Developing Strategies

In Phase 2,  Partners for Strategic Growth are utilizing the results of the Community Assessment by investing in and refining the strategic industries and occupations. Some of the specific tasks are outlined below:
 The second phase of this

Recruit domain experts to lead forums for each industry and occupation.

The team will tap local resources to understand the best ways to grow the strategic industries and occupations. By understanding what has worked and why, we are better able to apply these best practices to specific organizations that are part of a strategic industry or employ a strategic occupation.

Further define niches within strategic areas as targets for investment.

Within a strategic industry, such as health services, there will be specific areas within health services that demand more attention than other areas. These "niches" within a strategic industry or occupation need to be better defined and built into action plans.

Identify what drives growth and value – and allocate resources accordingly.

By understanding what stimulates growth for specific businesses and organizations within a target industry or occupation, available resources and incentives can be applied in a more effective way.

Monitor ongoing progress and build momentum within the community.

Much of this initiative relies on local organizations within the community that focus on specifics such as human services, workforce issues, or jobs. Partners for Strategic Growth will monitor the progress of these groups, help create incentives, and provide support as necessary.

Assess necessary policy implications.

As the team makes progress on this initiative, it will monitor how policies support or hinder progress. If policies hinder the progress of Partners for Strategic Growth, the team has resources to lobby for policy modifications that will help support positive growth in the region.
